The all-American Waldorf salad first gained popularity in the 19th century at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Made with simple ingredients, this healthy version of the classic makes for a great lunch or brunch dish with a refined touch.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Makes: 1 serving

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped red apples

  • 50 g pomegranate

  • ½ cup celery

  • 1 tablespoon plain yogurt

  • 4-5 walnuts

  • 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder

  • ½ cup chopped pears

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • ½ teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Whisk together yogurt, lemon juice, black pepper, cinnamon powder and salt in a serving bowl.

  2. Stir in apples, pears, celery, walnuts and pomegranates.

  3. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
