Hearty exercise

People with Diabetes are recommended exercise along with diet and medication to manage their blood glucose levels. A recent research study conducted in New Zealand has found that high-intensity exercise may improve heart health in people with Type 2 Diabetes. The study was conducted on 16 middle-age people with Type 2 Diabetes for three months and the results were published in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. Among the participants, 2/3rd was asked to exercise on a stationary bike for 20 minutes three days a week and would increase the pedalling to reach their highest heart rate in every three minutes.

The other 1/3rd was asked to follow their regular fitness regime. The results have shown that people who do high-intensity interval cycling have a lowered risk of developing heart disease. High-intensity interval cycling may help improve heart health in Diabetes. It is advised to consult your physician and physiotherapist before taking up any exercise regime. Particularly, before starting any high intensity exercise, adult people are advised to consult a doctor and do tests to rule out underlying heart disease, which may make high intensity training dangerous.
