Physical activity of one hour for six days a week may help in weight loss, a new study has found. The study published in the journal Medicine s Science in Sports s Exercise was conducted on 44 men and women between the age of 19 and 49 years who were overweight and they were put on a 12- week weight loss program. The participants were put in three groups - the first group exercised for six days a week, the second group exercised two days a week and the third group did not exercise at all. The participants in group one and two experienced weight loss but weight loss was more significant in group one. People in group two also had weight loss but they compensated the calorie burned in exercise by eating after the exercise. People who exercised for six days a week also ate after exercise but the calorie consumed were less than the calories burned. This created some amount of calorie deficit in their body and led to weight loss. Consult your dietician and physiotherapist to understand how to manage your diet and exercise to keep fit.
