Time-restricted eating could be beneficial

10-hour time-restricted eating could reduce body weight, lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. The study was conducted on 19 individuals and the results were published in the journal Cell Metabolism. Metabolic syndrome refers to a group of risk factors that increase the risk of health conditions such

as heart disease, Type 2 Diabetes and stroke. These risk factors are high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, high body mass index (BMI) and excess fat around the waist. The participants of the study had metabolic syndrome and a majority of them were on cholesterol or blood pressure-lowering drugs. They were recommended to eat a balanced diet within a 10- hour window of their choice, for 12 weeks. The study has observed that time-restricted eating along with medications improves heart health and could be included as a part of lifestyle intervention. It is advised to consult your physician before making any lifestyle modifications.
