People with health conditions are often recommended annual health check-ups to assess any underlying illnesses. A new research study published in the journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism observed the health records of 179,105 people with Type 1 Diabetes and 1,397,790 people with Type 2 Diabetes and followed their health parameters for 11 years. The study included health parameters such as HbA1c (a three- month average of blood sugar levels), creatinine, cholesterol, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, retinal and foot examinations. The study has found that people who undergo regular health check-ups have a lower risk of dying due to undiagnosed complications. Annual health check-ups enable a person to know about his or her health conditions in time, seek timely medical intervention and avoid complications.
