The research study analysed the effect of consuming jackfruit flour as a part of medical nutritional therapy on high blood sugar levels, along with medication. The study was conducted on 40 people aged 18-60 years who were diagnosed withType 2 Diabetes for more than a year. The participants were divided into two groups and were provided with 30 g per day of jackfruit flour or placebo flour. Both groups consumed the flours for 12 weeks as a replacement for an equal quantity of rice or wheat flour.The results have shown that people who consumed jackfruit flour had lowered blood sugar levels within a week of consumption as compared to those on placebo flour.People who ate jackfruit flour also had reduced fasting and post-meal blood sugar levels, body weight and lipid levels.
