Aerobic or cardio exercises use a large group of muscles in the body and are focused on conditioning the muscles of the heart. They increase breathing, heart rate and help keep the heart and lungs healthy. Anaerobic exercises break down glucose in the system for energy without using oxygen. .These exercises often consist of high intensity and small duration. A recent research study published in the journal Scientific Reports observed the impact of doing cardio (aerobic) before weight lifting (anaerobic) on muscle health. The study was conducted on eight men who were asked to do two different sets of exercises. First, they did intense 20-minute cycling followed by 10 minutes of upper body heavy resistance exercise. In the second set, the participants did the same resistance exercise without cycling first. They were tested for protein markers and genes responsible for muscle mass. The results showed that cardio exercises help strengthen the muscles by stimulating protein release. This helps in heayy resistance exercising afterwards. which builds overall muscle health.
