Healthcare professionals recommend regular exercise to maintain body weight and to keep fit. A new research study published in the journal Obesity studied the effect of extreme dieting and exercise on the body.

The study was conducted on 16 men and women who had lost weight due to low-calorie intake after undergoing gastric bypass surgery. This data was compared with a famous American reality show based on drastic weight loss from a very low-calorie diet and strenuous exercise.

The results showed people who have a drastic weight loss tend to regain the lost weight after some time. if not maintained. People who achieve gradual weight loss have a high likelihood of stable body weight in the long run.
