Winter is here...health as well as improve our immunity and Winters can make us curl up with our couch and make us lazy and slow us down. But exercise is important for the body. It helps to maintain physical and mental strength to fight various infections and diseases. Being active during the winter season is always necessary as it helps improve our mood, increase energy levels and help us to sleep better. So let's see how we can get past the qualms of frigid temperature and keep ourselves moving. .Here are a few exercises which can help us stay on our toes:• Walking either at a normal pace or brisk walking can warm up the body. One can practice it indoors or even outside with proper clothing.• If you're an amateur runner or a competitive runner, practising running in winter will boost up your energy levels and help you in maintaining good physical and mental health.• Working out at an indoor gym will help you burn more calories and can keep you fit throughout the winters. Make sure you ask the trainer about the workouts best suitable for you as well as if you don't know how to use the equipment.• Include active housework like cleaning, sweeping or any activity that will keep you active.• Join a fitness class like Zumba or a dance class if you want to have fun and get fit at the same time.• Create your home gym if you don't want to step outside of the home. There are a variety of props available within the home which can help you build your gym for an energetic workout session.• Find an indoor swimming pool where you can enjoy swimming as well as water aerobics - one of the best ways to burn calories during the winter season.• Play indoor games like badminton, basketball, throwball and many more. Suit yourself with a game that makes you happy as well as sweaty.Even the most dedicated fitness or exercise enthusiast may have a hard time during the winter season. But our aim should be to overcome the obstacles and be active as much as we can. So, here are some tips to protect you from the harsh weather:• Cover up your extremities well (fingers,toes, ears) while you exercise outside in the chilling weather to avoid frostbite.• Make sure you layer up your body to keep you warm enough and be able to take the sweat off the body.• Always remember to apply sunscreen on the body before stepping out.• Seek out an exercise partner or a group to work out as it may tend to be boring to work out alone in the winter. It can help you distract from the bad weather and also provide social support.• Focus on your mental health.
