Swap car to live healthily

A research study published in the journal Heart has found that switching car with healthy alternatives for travel may help reduce the risk of a heart attack, stroke and other heart diseases. The study was conducted on 3,70,000 people in the UK between the age of 37 and 73. The participants were divided into two groups – those who used the car for commutation and those who used other active commutation such as walking, cycling and public transport. The results have shown that people with regular active commutation such as walking and cycling had 11 per cent lower risk of developing a heart disease and 30 per cent lower risk of death by heart attack or stroke.

People who did not commute regularly or who commute by car were found to have a high risk of a heart disease.
