People with Diabetes are recommended exercise along with diet and medication to maintain their blood glucose levels. A recent study conducted in Sweden and published in the journal Diabetologia has shown that exercising in the afternoon has beneficial effects on body weight and blood glucose levels as compared to early morning exercise. The study was conducted on 11 men with Type 2 Diabetes, between the age of 45 and 68 years and who had high BMI levels (22-33 kg/m2). The participants were recommended high- intensity training for 3 sessions a week for two weeks early in the morning and in the afternoon. Their blood glucose levels were recorded using a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMs) during both durations. The results have shown that exercising in the afternoon lowers blood glucose levels better than in the morning.
