Marking the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Chellaram Diabetes Institute had organised a Functional Training activity at the Chellaram Ultra Wellness Centre and a Complementary HbA1c and Fibroscan testing health camp at Chellaram Hospital: Diabetes care G Multispecialty.
Functional training is a type of exercise that emphasizes movements similar to those performed in daily life. It aims to improve your ability to perform everyday tasks, such as lifting, bending, and climbing stairs, by training multiple muscle groups to work together. This approach originated in rehabilitation settings but has gained popularity among fitness enthusiasts for its practical benefits.
HbA1c, also known as A1C or glycated hemoglobin, is a blood test that measures your average blood glucose levels over the
past two to three months. It is primarily used to diagnose prediabetes and diabetes, as well as to monitor how well blood glucose levels have been controlled over two to three months.
Fibroscan, also known as transient elastography, is a diagnostic tool used to measure liver stiffness. Liver stiffness can be an indicator of fibrosis, which is the scarring of liver tissue caused by various liver diseases, including hepatitis and cirrhosis. This non-invasive technique uses ultrasound waves to assess the liver’s condition.
In the weeks preceding the World Diabetes Day event, the hospital also conducted a Diabetes related health check-up camp at Nande village located in Mulshi Tehsil of Pune district in Maharashtra.
