Paneer Jalfrezi

Cottage cheese or paneer is an important part of Indian cooking and has many health benefits. It contains a lot of proteins, vitamins and minerals such as sodium and promotes healthy gut bacteria. It also improves metabolism and aids in weight loss. With minimal preparation, this paneer dish can be enjoyed occasionally during the festival season.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Serving size: Makes 4 servings


  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/4th tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4th tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 cup onion finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes pureed
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 medium capsicum
  • 250 g paneer
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4th tsp turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves to garnish


  1. Make tomato puree.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds to crackle.
  3. Fry onions till light brown.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook.
  5. Add tomato puree and cook with it.
  6. Add red chilli powder, garam masala and turmeric powder to it.
  7. Let the mixture to cook for 3-4 minutes.
  8. Add capsicum pieces and cook for 3 minutes.
  9. Add paneer to the mixture.
  10. Add salt and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
