Chicken Momos

A popular street food of today, chicken momos is a favourite snack option amongst people of all ages. With minimal preparation, this hot delicacy can be enjoyed in moderation with tomato sauce or with hot clear soup.

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 40 minutes

Makes: 10 servings


  • 2 cups of refined wheat flour (maida)

For chicken filling

  • 5 cup minced chicken
  • 3 spring onions chopped
  • 8-9 cloves of chopped garlic
  • A small piece of finely chopped ginger
  • 2 chopped green chillies
  • ¼ tsp black pepper powder
  • 2-3 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbs oil
  • Salt as per taste


  1. In a bowl, mix minced chicken, spring onions, garlic, ginger, green chillies, pepper and soya sauce and keep the mixture aside.
  2. Knead the refined flour by adding salt and oil. Make soft dough by adding sufficient water to it. Cover and keep it aside for some time.
  3. Take a piece of dough about the size of a golf ball and roll it out to about 4 inches. To this add one heaped spoon of prepared chicken mixture. Wet the edges and bring it together to the centre to close the dumplings.
  4. Steam the momos for 20-25 min and serve it with tomato garlic sauce or chilli sauce.
